Stanford Jazz Festival and Workshops 2008 This is the 8th year Ruth presents the "Ruth Davies Blues Night" and teaches jazz and blues bass. Check here about details for this year's event. [Henry Butler will be the guest star]. For further information, see http://stanfordjazz.org
2008 Tours & Gigs Ruth returns to Europe again several times to perform with the Amina Figarova Quintet (featuring Bart Platteau on flute, and Chris Strik on drums). The San Francisco Symphony's "Adventures in Music" provides a sequential and comprehensive curriculum-related music experience for San Francisco school children. Ruth returns to this program again in 2008. Thousands of students will hear jazz up close. Performance schedule here or please check the artist's web pages. Recent CD appearances (see Discography) Fuego Latino's "The Name as a Promise." Dmitri Matheny's "Nocturne." "A haunting meditation on the beauty of the night, 'Nocturne' draws listeners into a shadowy world of secrets and dreams." Features Dmitri on flugelhorn, his favorite regulars, plus string quartet and harp. Release date: July 2005. Vassar Clements' "Livin' with the Blues." Vassar's blues album with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musslewhite, Norton Buffalo, and others. "Hellboy, the Soundtrack," score and production by Marco Beltrami. "The Sims 2," Maxis-Electronic Arts. Not jazz, not blues, but the latest in a long series of popular video games. For a taste of the music, try the wild horn arrangements on "Bohemian Street Jam" on "SimCity 4: Music from SimCity 4," music direction by Jerry Martin. Ruth and Mike Greensill at Moose's Restaurant Ruth and Mike play this San Francisco North Beach landmark most Sunday and Monday evenings, unless Mike (and singer Wesla Whitfield), or Ruth are on the road.
